Personal Development (PD)
Personal Development (PD)
At Abu Bakr Boys School we have an extensive Careers programme which aims to provide Careers guidance and support to pupils from Y7 to Y11. This makes them aware of the wide variety of professions available at an early stage and enables them to make informed choices about further education and career paths.
The Personal Development programme is broken down into three key components: personal wellbeing, economic wellbeing and social education/keeping healthy. Throughout Key Stage 3 pupils have the opportunity to investigate the key concepts and develop the essential skills and processes as part of the 3 key components.
PSHEE is taught as a standalone subject. The pupils receive one lesson per week throughout Key Stage 3.
Aims:
Education for social/keeping healthy aims to equip young people with the knowledge, skills and understanding to play an effective role in public life. To become confident individuals who are able to live safe, healthy and fulfilling lives.
Personal wellbeing aims to help young people embrace change, feel positive about who they are and enjoy healthy, safe, responsible and fulfilled lives.
Education for economic wellbeing and financial capability aims to equip pupils with the knowledge, skills and attributes to make the most of changing opportunities in learning and work.
